Hotel Robot Developer Savioke Gets $15m Boost


Savioke, the developer of the Relay hotel robot currently rolling around the corridors of properties across the US, has received $15 million in Series A funding led by Intel Capital.

EDBI, the corporate investment arm of the Singapore Economic Development Board and Northern Light Venture Capital also participated in the round.

Savioke says it put the investment towards sales, marketing and product developments for Relay.

The hotel robot was first introduced in 2014 and according to the accompany is now being used at five of the world’s major hotel brands.

The device delivers items such as toothpaste and towels to hotel guests and is also used to deliver coffee at one property.

The hotel robot is not the only device to employed in the travel industry with Costa Cruises recently announcing a plan to bring Softbank developed Pepper on board and Amsterdam Schipol Airport carrying a trial of a robot called Spencer last year.

With this round Savioke has received a total of $17.6 in funding.
